| Services We have a wide range of services that cover all aspects of dentistry. Our standard services and procedures include: Family dentistry Family dentistry means that we treat a child, with the child's needs in mind. It also means that when the adolescent requires their wisdom teeth removed, we consider their specific concerns. When we treat adults, we not only provide many aspects of dental care, but we incorporate the adult's specific needs and concerns. Treating our senior patients require, not only a great knowledge of dentistry, but also medicine, medications and the seniors special needs, which may include speaking slowly, loudly, in front of them and addressing their concerns. The greatest joy I have in practicing family dentistry is that not only does each patient have their specific needs and concerns, but each generation has different needs and wants that we will address in order to provide them with outstanding dental care. Implants When implants are needed to replace missing teeth, we work with a team approach. The oral surgeon or periodontist, that we have placing the implant in the bone, the lab technician making the porcelain and metal bridge, and I discuss placement, options and the best design. This will create the best possible results for our patients. Providing implants to restore missing teeth is very difficult. By utilizing the team approach, we are able to achieve excellent success. Veneers (Facings) Veneers, which are sometimes called facings, allow us to “reface” upper and lower front teeth that need cosmetic repair because of poor color, shape, position, or many old fillings. If the tooth is strong enough, we only have to place these on the front of the teeth, thereby saving most of the natural tooth structure. They provide a veneer that makes the teeth look great. Whitening Whitening (bleaching) is the new hot-word in dentistry. Brightsmile is a technique to whiten teeth in about one hour safely and painlessly. We have had great success with this technique. What a super way to take years of stain and discoloration from your teeth. The two questions that we cannot answer are, “How light will the teeth get and how long will it last?”. We usually are able to get about seven shades lighter and it usually lasts for years. Commercial products of applying liquids and strips to whiten teeth are on TV all the time. There are whitening toothpastes, floss, and mouth rinses also. Some of these products work a little. Some of these products can irritate the gums and teeth. The products usually do not get the teeth as white as the techniques that we use in our office. Bridges There are many kinds of bridges and different materials. Bridges are used to replace missing teeth. Some are made of porcelain fused to metal. Some are all porcelain. Because there are so many different reasons to make bridges and so many designs and sizes, it is difficult to discuss all types. If there are teeth missing, a thorough exam with x-rays will help give me the information to tell you all the treatment options that will benefit you. Cosmetic dentistry Cosmetic dentistry is an all-encompassing word to describe many treatments that we can do to make your teeth look lighter in color, straighter, normal shape and size, and make the gum tissues healthy and contoured naturally. Some of the treatments that we can do to achieve this are as follows:
One Appointment Root Canals Root canal treatment is done when a “nerve” dies in a tooth. It really is removing the soft tissue inside of the root of the tooth and then sealing this area. It is usually painless, with the use of a local anesthetic. With new high tech sonic measuring devices to measure the inside length and special high-tech files, most root canals can be done in one appointment with better success and fewer problems than when we did root canal treatment in two to four appointments.
